Nigerian singer and songwriter, Wizkid will play in London’s Roundhouse as part of Apple Music Live and premiere songs from his expected fifth studio album. Fans in London will be the only ones able to watch the live broadcast on September 27, but 165 other countries will also be able to access the Grammy-winning musician’s performance the same month.
“Apple Music has always been a supporter of my career and a major tool in connecting me with my fans. Collaborating with them on something like this is special,” the “Essence” singer said in a release. “I’m excited to debut new music from my forthcoming album More Love, Less Ego and share my Apple Music Live show with fans across the world.”
The Afrobeat musician debuted “Bad to Me,” his first solo track of 2022, this week as a teaser for the release of his upcoming album on October 29. This song substitutes an amapiano-based groove for the sensual production of his previous album, Made In Lagos.
Wizkid is no stranger to London; last year, he performed five sold-out gigs at the O2 stadium there. Additionally, he became the first solo African artist to enter Apple Music’s Global Daily Top 10 after his smash hit “Essence” reached international charts.
Last month, Wizkid’s album Made in Lagos, the first African record to receive a gold certification from the RIAA, made history. He joins other musicians that have worked with Apple Music, such as Harry Styles, Mary J. Blige, and Lil Durk, with this event.
