The weekend was bittersweet for Liverpool fans as they followed a win against Manchester City on Saturday with a loss on Sunday. The atmosphere is more favorable as they landed their 16th community shield following their 3-1 win over Manchester City at Wembley. The game was supposed to be the League opener but aside the eventual winner, supporters were also eager to watch who performs better among the two big money signings, Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, the later had a night to remember and Haaland had quite the opposite.
Nunez came off the bench to seal in the win in added time but Halaand played 90 minutes struggled through out, he struggled to make touches with the ball, the midfielders didn't get his run and when he finally got a rebound from about five yards out, he somehow blazed it over. We take a look at Why Erling might still outscore Nunez?
Erling Halaand would be playing his first season in Premier League but talk about being proven in world football you'd mention Halaand. He has shown he can score goals and has done that conveniently for RB Salzburg, Borrusia Dortmund and his National team. He is a goal machine and for a player who has scored goals all his life and performed on the biggest stage including the Champions League would definitely pick up. Nunez on the other hand has just had a season in the spotlight and could be a risk buy.
You can't play behind DeBruyne, Bernardo, Foden, Cancelo and not score goals. Manchester City possesses one of the most creative squad in the world and no surprise every forward that has passed through in recent years have scored goals. A few games together would increase their understanding of each other and Halaand would bounce back.
Halaand is an injury free player and same applies to Nunez but Halaand has a better chance of playing more than Nunez. Hall and and fellow summer signing, Julian Alvarez are the only natural centre forwards in the squad and Julian could even drop to the flank meaning Halaand would likely span 90 minutes on the pitch in most games whilst Nunez battle Bobby Firmino for game time.
