Two men, 76 and 56, arrested after 52-year-old woman found dead and badly burned in lay-by

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a 52-year-old woman was discovered badly burned in a lay-by.

Jomaa Jerrare was found by officers in the early hours of Monday morning after police received reports of suspicious activity on Bridgnorth Road, close to Perton.

Police believe she was killed and then driven to the site and set alight.

Staffordshire Police said a 76-year-old from Kingstanding, Birmingham, and a 56-year-old man from Bilston, Wolverhampton, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

They both remain in custody, police added

A 41-year-old man from Wolverhampton, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has since been released without charge.

The victim was driven to the lay-by, the force say.

Staffordshire Police said on Thursday it had traced the victim's mother and daughter.

Ms Jerrare's family had not seen her for approximately six weeks, it was claimed.

"We now need to piece together a timeline of where she's been since that point," Det Supt Tom Chisholm said.

"We need to understand where she's been and who her associates are."

He said they "strongly believe she died before she was brought to Bridgnorth Road, so this would be a deposition site."

A post-mortem examination has taken place, but the cause of her death is under further investigation.

The force said specially trained officers are working with and supporting Ms Jerrare's family as they come to terms with the tragic discovery.

"We're trying to work backwards to understand how she died, why she died and who brought her here," Det Supt Chisholm added.

"For whatever reason, she's ended up here having been set on fire in really tragic circumstances." Mirror
