Manchester United are close to finalising a £100m move for Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho after seeing off competition from PL rivals Chelsea for the winger’s signature.

England international was desperate to move to Man Utd last summer but Red Devils refused to meet BVB’s £108m asking price for the winger, which the Germans were demanding in a lump fee. The Bundesliga club have since lowered their valuation to nearly £100m, £20m of which is add-ons.

The Red Devils attempted to structure the transfer in a similar manner last summer but the Germans are only accepting of it now because Jadon now has two years to run on his deal.

The Red Devils were the only club seriously interested in Jadon Sancho in 2020 but Chelsea have since joined the chase for the forward and the German manager will be given significant funds to invest in his side after guiding them to UCL glory in May.

However, Red Devils are close to capturing Jadon Sancho and have fended off interest from Blues for his services. Red Devils feel their decision not to cave into Borussia Dortmund’s demands last summer has been vindicated and they have long since agreed on personal terms with Jadon, meaning the other side of the transfer is a formality.

The Norwegian manager signed Daniel James for £15m during his first summer in charge at Man Utd but he’s wanted a long-term solution to Red Devils right-wing problems since replacing Jose Mourinho. Mason Greenwood made the position his own towards the end of last campaign but United see his future playing through the middle.
