The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, has suggested that President Muhammadu Buhari sacks those saddled with tackling insecurity in the country.
National President of AYCF, Yerima Shettima, asked that Buhari continuously sack and replace those saddled with tackling insecurity until he gets the right people.
Speaking with Daily Post, Shettima pointed out that the lack of political will by those in power was responsible for the inability of the government to tackle insecurity.
Shettima said most of the people saddled with the responsibility of tackling insecurity are not honest.
Responding to why Buhari’s government has been unable to tackle insecurity, Shettima said: “Political will often stand in the way of peace and progress. The fact of the matter is that those saddled with the responsibility of tackling insecurity are not honest and not doing the right thing.
“If I were to be Buhari, I will continue to fire people who fail in their responsibility of tackling insecurity even if it takes him every week until the right thing is done.
“They need people who have the political will, patriotic, and committed Nigerians to do the job.
“Some of us are beyond convinced that some of these people are just allowing innocent people to be killed because they are not affected.”
On the issue of grazing routes, the AYCF National President also insisted that not all herders are criminals.
Shettima stressed that while herders should not be stopped from doing their legitimate business, those found to be criminals should be dealt with.
“Not all herders are criminal minded just like we have other businessmen that are criminally minded in the Northern and Southern parts of the country.
“For God’s sake, we should be mindful of what we put out publicly. There are those going about doing their legitimate business, and there is no reason to stop them. However, those found to be criminals should be picked up and punished,” he said.
