Anambra deploys technology to address examination malpractice
The Anambra State Government on Monday stated plans have been underway to begin the deployment of technology to watch examinations in public colleges throughout the state.
Prof. Kate Omenugha, state Commissioner for Basic Education, revealed this in an interview with the Nigeria News Agency (NAN), in Awka.
Omenugha stated that the initiative might assist stamp out exam malpractice within the state.
She stated that Gov. Willie Obiano had accepted the set up of Internet Protocol (IP) cameras in exam halls of all public schools within the state.
Omenugha stated: "The set up of those IP cameras, is a part of the innovative plans to enhance schooling within the state."
"This era will assist us watch and observe college students at the same time as they take exams together with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or the Junior WAEC."
"It will save you college students from dishonest for the duration of tests in addition to assist instil in our college students the self assurance that they want to stand examinations with none outside aid."
Omenugha stated that private schools within the state were directed to additionally set up IP cameras of their exam halls.
She stated that any school that aid and bog down exam malpractice would resort to taking their college students outside the state for examinations.
"The state government’s role is to shut down any of such colleges running within the country," she stated.
