REPORT: Bandits kill sixteen, injure nine in Sokoto village
Gunmen have killed sixteen human beings and injured 9 others at a village in Sokoto close to the border with Niger, a local official and a resident stated Friday.
The predawn assault on Tara village, in Sokoto state, is the fresh in a series of assaults through crook gangs recognized domestically as "bandits" who for years have terrorised communities, killing, pillaging and kidnapping humans.
"The gunmen got here on bikes and opened fire on the village," stated resident Lawwali Umeh.
"We buried sixteen dead bodies this afternoon. Nine others are badly injured," Umeh added.
