NCDC records another 48 cases of coronavirus, overall now 162,641


The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has records another 48 cases of coronavirus, bringing the overall number of infections in the country to 162,641.


The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter account on Monday.


The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the country’s everyday new cases keep to comply with a downward trajectory.


From an all time high of 2,314 cases on Jan. 22, 2021, the country’s everyday new effective cases have come right all the way down to forty eight (48) as of March 29 2021.


The health agency stated that the country’s death toll from the lethal infection moved to 2,049 after a further loss of life in the last 24 hours.


The NCDC said that the forty eight (48) infections have been registered throughout 8 states.


It brought that Lagos state recorded the highest number with 13, at the same time as Kaduna and Nasarawa registered seven each and Kano showed six infections.


Amongst the other states, Kwara with 5 cases, Ondo with four, Akwa Ibom and Osun stated 3 cases each.


According to NCDC, 1,767,694 samples were examined until date, with 40,227 samples examined in a single week.


The health agency stated that 158 more human beings had been discharged after testing positive to the virus throughout the country within the previous 24 hours.


"Our discharges nowadays consist of 28 community recoveries in Ekiti State controlled in step with guidelines," NCDC said.


The NCDC burdened that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3 (three), had persisted to coordinate the national response activities within the country.


The agency stated that the Nigera’s active cases stood at 10,363.
