Drake has excited fans by announcing the release date for his new album, Certified Lover Boy, but not before taking a trip down memory lane.

The God’s Plan rapper revealed he’ll be dropping his fifth studio album in January 2021 giving us all something to look forward to as we start a brand new year.

He accompanied the announcement with a short film, which opens with a younger version of Drake staring up at the sky as wads of cash fall from the sky.

As the young Drake reaches up to catch some notes, the real and older Drake is seen sitting at a table with a glass of red wine in front.

Fans will notice it’s a live action version of Drizzy’s iconic cover for his 2011 album Take Care. The next scene sees Drake standing sideways against a backdrop of the blue sky and clouds, similar to the artwork for 2013’s Nothing Was The Same.

Another scene features Drake wearing a black hoodie with a scarf pulled over the bottom half of his face before an aerial view of his home city of Toronto, Canada, an ode to his 2016 album Views.

Drake’s longtime producer Noah ‘40’ Shebib recently teased that Certified Lover Boy is ‘ready to go’ before sharing an insight into the rap icon’s recording process.

‘Drake makes like four different types of music,’ 40 told Kevin Durant on the NBA star’s ETCS podcast.

‘How many different types of fans does he have? How many songs is he going to give you of each type, so that you’re satisfied with this offering? He’s trying to deliver for a lot of different people.’

40 continued: ‘I think that’s the predicament we find ourselves in, which is trying to make music for everyone and to make sure all the different types of fans are satisfied.’

The album news coincided with Drake’s 34th birthday on October 24 and he was pictured making a lowkey exit from Nobu in West Hollywood on Saturday night after enjoying a quiet dinner with friends.

He’s been doing a lot of celebrating recently after throwing a party for his son Adonis’ third birthday at his sprawling Toronto mansion earlier this month.
